Lavardens is an imposing hilltop fortified village. The castle attached to it was a stronghold of the counts of Armagnac. For a while the château belonged to the Marquis of Mirabeau, father of the famous revolutionary. Afterwards it fell into decay but has since been completely renovated by a private society 'amis du château'.

Open daily June-Sept 10.30-7pm; April, May, Oct 10.30-12.30 and 2-6pm. Closed mid Jan-mid Feb.

The BNIA is an association composed of particpants in the Armagnac industry; producers, private cellars, cooperatives, traders and brokers. As such it is an important soruce of information and knowedge for lovers of Armagnac. In this section you will find many Armagnac producers, members of BNIA, offering tastings and further insights into their craft.

Espas Fete

Espas is a small village fete with a big reputation. Its core events are Sunday morning breakfast of snails, sausages and cheese washed down with copious amounts of wine - a very jolly affair with tables strung out down the main street. The second key event is a mass BBQ or traditional grilled lamb in a baguette followed by a disco and confetti battle.
