The Chateau du Tariquet has its vineyards in the Bas-Armagnac region which can be found around the town of Eauze. The Tariquet estate is an independant and family-owned company which produces white wines and Armagnac brandies that have won international acclaim. In their wine making they strive to respect and preserve the characteristics of each grape variety. The wines age naturally in the Chateaux cellars, without the use of any additional products. Young wine is then distilled to produce high quality Armagnac, while respecting the age-old traditions on which our brandy's legendary reputation has been built. |

In 1979, some determined winegrowers, assisted by André Dubosc embarked on the challenge of regaining nobility of the wines of their region: Saint-Mont, Madiran, Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, Vin de Pays des Côtes de Gascogne. Together, they founded Plaimont.
Their philosophy is to respect the age-old traditions, for instance many of their wines are made from hand picked grapes. Aware of the necessity to preserve their land and heritage for future generations they use environmentally friendly methods and help young winegrowers set themselves up.
They invite visitors to come and share the passion of these men and their region. Whether it be a wine tasting at the local cave, taking part in the St Mont wine festival in March or staying at a winegrower's, in the heart of the vineyard, in a gîte or B&B. Take time to discover the wealth of richness and tradition that are the vineyards of south west Gascony.
More coming soon. In the meantime try the Plaimont producteurs website by clicking on the vineyard image

A few Côtes de Gascogne facts
The wine growers of the Gers and Côtes de Gascogne produce more than 600,000 hectolitres of certified Vin de Pays wine each year and they are the number one French producer of Vin de Pays white wines. 91% of wine produced in the Gers is white wine, while only 8% is red and 1% is rosé. Taking all varieties into consideration, the Gers is the fifth largest producer of Vin de Pays wines in France. Potentially Côtes de Gascogne sells more than 80 million bottles per year.
75% of Côtes de Gascogne wine is sold for export. Côtes de Gascogne white wines are a particular favourite in northern European countries, such as Belgium, UK, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. The United States and Asia also enjoy their fair share.
Floc de Gascogne, quite simply grapes from Gascony, Armagnac creating the cream of aperitifs.
Both sensual, soft and bewitching, it is the result of the subtle blend between the charm of the fresh grape juice and the vitality and fire of young Armagnacs subtly spiced and zesty. See if you can spot the melange of flavours while enjoying a chilled glass before dinner.
